Update: Officially in Remission

I just got back from my oncology appointment, 2 months after my last chemo and 2 weeks since my IV lines (PICC lines) were removed after my last CT scan. I couldn’t wait to share the good news. I’m officially in remission, but not out of the woods quite yet. My lymph nodes are still enlarged, but much smaller than my last CT done in February. I’ll see the oncologist again in 6 weeks.

The CT scan also showed some improvement in my congestive heart failure. Labs done today showed my blood count improved, but still a bit low. I’ll need to continue taking iron with Vitamin C along with the Folic Acid. I do get to discontinue the Protonix. The Xarelto (blood thinner) was discontinued a week before my IV lines were removed. 2 (count ‘em), TWO less pills to take.

I’ve been feeling stronger and doing without the walker most of the time although I still tire quickly. I didn’t take it to my appointment today for the first time since my treatments started. I can now ferry my own garbage and recyclables to the dumpster with my walker since it’s about a block away. Feels good not to have to rely on others for this.

I’m not sure I would have made it this far without all the prayers and positive vibes from this community. The Community Quilt that was so lovingly created and supported by the community got me through some very rough times.

Thanks to all for your positive energy and support.

If you need to catch up on my trials and tribulations see my diaries here and here.
