Scott Walker is Toast. Finally. (update) And now it's official!

You heard it here first!

I just watched our live local reporter receiving the absentee ballot information from the City of Milwaukee to Milwaukee County. Of the over 44,000 ballots, Tony Evers received 38,000 votes.

Evers was already in a slight lead before this. There aren’t enough uncounted ballots in the rest of the state to bring Walker a win even if they all were for Walker. Well….unless the Waukesha County Clerk finds bagfuls of “uncounted ballots” (wink, wink) again.

Automatic recount threshold is any margin below 1%. Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefish talked about getting resources for a  recount. Since the threshold won’t be met, they’ll have to dish out the full cost themselves — not a problem with all the billionaire backing Walker has.

Scott Walker is toast.

Live results here.

UPDATE:

According to the media, a recount is being pursued.

"The fight is not over," Walker's lieutenant governor, Rebecca Kleefisch, told supporters in Waukesha.

A candidate who loses by 1 percent or less can demand a recount under a law Walker signed last year. Taxpayers pick up the cost if the loss is within 0.25 percent; the losing candidate would have to pay if the margin is wider than that.

And now it’s official.

After upending Wisconsin politics and infuriating liberals across the country, Gov. Scott Walker narrowly lost his bid for a third term Tuesday to Tony Evers, the leader of the education establishment Walker blew up eight years ago.

The Associated Press called the race for Evers about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday based on unofficial returns.

The race was so close that Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch said a recount was likely. But an unofficial tally had Evers winning by 1.1 percentage points — a margin that would be too large for a recount if it held.

About damn time for that rat to get the boot. It will take decades to undo the damage he’s done. Evers plans his first action as Governor will be to expand Medicaid. About time, too.

As for that wine that I talked about in my earlier diary about turnout, I opened after finishing this diary. It tastes like schadenfreuden.
