He’s an election falsifier who recklessly promoted lies about the 2020 presidential race long after it was clear Donald Trump lost.
He’s a science fabulist who suggested, without evidence, that the COVID-19 vaccines could make the pandemic worse and who repeatedly touted unproven remedies for the disease — from Ivermectin to mouthwash.
He's tried to rewrite the sordid history of the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, claiming the attackers were "people that love this country, that truly respect law enforcement, would never do anything to break the law."
He suggested the government should rewrite the rules for the two government programs seniors rely on most — Medicare and Social Security — making them subject to annual political fights in Congress rather than mandatory payments as promised.
And this is just the start of a long editorial in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel which details his horrific record as a US Senator. In the many decades I’ve read the Journal, I’ve never seen anything like this.
It concludes with this:
In fact, Ron Johnson is the worst Wisconsin political representative since the infamous Sen. Joseph McCarthy. Johnson in the past promised to serve no more than two terms. Voters should hold him to that pledge in November.
(emphasis is mine)
Hopefully, this will cut through the massive dark money ads calling his opponent, Mandela Barnes, “dangerous” and “different”. Dark money forces have spent over $14 million in the past 2 weeks on an ad blitz where these lying ads are often seen back to back during each commercial break. And maybe even start cutting through the endless bullshit the rubes get fed on AM radio and Foxy Newz.
Those ads are having a serious effect. Polling today from Marquette shows Johnson up to 52% with Barnes receiving 46% support!!!! Worse is the previous 15% lead Barnes had with independent voters is now a 6 point lead for Johnson.
Marquette's August survey, conducted just after the primaries, showed Barnes with a 7-point advantage over Johnson among registered voters. That Barnes lead evaporated by the time September's poll rolled around, which showed Johnson 1-point ahead of Barnes among likely voters.
"We've seen the affect of the campaign, the negative ads, and we've seen that move over three samples from August to September to October," poll director Charles Franklin said.
Yikes!
Stand with Mandela Barnes (website)
Looks like they’ve changed the title of the editorial to: Editorial: Election deceiver, science fabulist, billionaire benefactor. After 12 years, it's time to term-limit Sen. Ron Johnson.
Maybe the WATB or his staff balked at the original title (which is still listed in the URL).
